Poonch: ‘Drama’ that lands trio in jail | KNO

Rajouri, Mar 31 (KNO): Amid lockdown and restrictions in wake of Coronavirus pandemic, three persons were arrested on Tuesday after they tried to reach Poonch from Jammu district while showing a man accompanying them as dead. According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the trio planned to reach Poonch from Jammu by deciding to play a ‘drama’ and tasked an elderly accompanying them to act like a dead body. However, the drama got exposed at Surankote when police intercepted them. Police said that during a routine naka checking on Jammu-Poonch highway at Surankote, a private ambulance bearing registration number PB02CQ-6663 was intercepted at Surankote by police and on query the driver and a man sitting on front seat produced a death certificate to police and informed that one Hakam Din, son of Sahib Din of Sailian Surankote was admitted in GMC Jammu where he died. The death certificate ‘fake in nature’ was issued by Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu, which was produced before police and identified the deceased as Hakam Din. However, cops on duty developed some suspicion and examined the body lying in ambulance. But the man shown dead was found alive and well. " The ambulance was seized on the spot and driver namely Abid Hussain, son of Mohammad Razaq of Dandkote Rajouri was arrested along with other person identified as Mohammad Ashraf, son of Mohammad Yousuf resident of Sailian." police said. The aged man Hakam Din, who posed himself dead, has also been taken into custody by police with a case under relevant sections including 420 IPC have been registered in Surankote police station. "We are investigating the nature of death certificate produced before Naka party as it seem a fake one." police informed –(KNO)
